Duke Hawkins: Dassault Mirage III & Mirage 5/50 EN. When the Mirage III, with it’s typical delta wings, was introduced, it presented an enormous step forward in military aviation. The supersonic fighter immediately proved to be a successful design and was ordered in large numbers by many air forces. It formed the backbone of the Armée de l’Air, but also of countries like Spain, Switserland, Australia, and many others. Even today, the Mirage III/5 is still in service, 6 decades after it was introduced: the Pakistan Air Force still flies the delta in large numbers. In a seperate chapter, we take a closer look at the Mirage 5, which was in use in several countries as well. The photos in this book portrait jets from Belgium, Pakistan and Argentina. Like all our other books, this new book is filled with action and details! Some of the action comes from the Pakistan Air Force, where the Mirage III/5 is still operational, other photos are from the Argentine and Swiss Air Force. The Mirage III (and 5) proved to be a successful platform for a high speed reconnaissance jet. For this, the nose was completely redesigned. In this book, every detail of the reconnaissance version is included. We offer very close details of every aspect of the Mirage III, such as the engine, landing gear, different versions of the cockpit, the entire fuselage. This book also offers the differences between the many versions of the delta. As always, we include an extensive chapter on the maintenance of the jet. For this, we visited Payerne Air Base, where the only airworthy Mirage III in Europe is maintained. The photo below shows a Mirage 50, flying in Venezuela.
Duke Hawkins: Mirage F1 (84 pages) EN. Duke Hawkins: Dassault Mirage F.1 The Tenth book in the Duke Hawkins series covers the Dassault Mirage F1. It is an 84 page book, showing the aircraft both in action and in detail. A complete walk-around, a closer look at the cockpit (several versions, single-seat and two-seat), an extensive look at the landing gear, avionics bay on top of the aircraft, engine, nozzle, and more. It includes some great action as well, with Mirage F1s during exercises and in war conditions. This book will also be in a limited edition box from Special Hobby, which includes two 1/72 scale kits; a single seat and a two-seat Mirage F1
Duke Hawkins: SIAI Marchetti SF.260 - (84 pages) EN. Over 800 of the SIAI Marchetti SF.260 have been built and were in use with over 30 countries. Compact, agile and forgiving, this aircraft is ideal for pilot training. In this 84 page book, there isn’t a detail that isn’t included: cockpit - different versions of it - fuselage, wings, vertical tail and landing gear. Next to all the details, there is a lot of action in this book - it has some 250 photos in it! Air to air photografy, action on the ground and filled with a lot of first information, given by pilots and technicians. We give you an insight into the different versions, from the initial SF.260M to the upgraded SF.260D. During our visits to the maintenance hangars, we had the possibility to photograph many parts of the Marchetti SF.260 separately and in detail. Like the landing gear strut above. Of course, a close look at the cockpit is included, such as the one in the photo to the right, of an Italian SF.260EA. The Belgian Air Force demonstration team “The Red Devils” flies 4 red painted SIAI Marchetti SF.260s. Ambassadors as they are, they are - obviously - included in this book. Also included in this book is a closer look at the SF.260 TP - the version of the aircraft equipped with a turboprop engine and three-bladed propeller. In service with air forces of the Philippines, these aircraft can be equipped with weapons on wing hardpoints.
1/48 Ox Towing Me 163B with a Luftwaffe Ground Crew. At the final stages of WW2, the Third Reich faced serious shortage of fuel and to save the maximum amount possible, draft animals were used for taxiing aircraft on airfields, too. Even the most advanced jet and rocket-powered military aircraft such as the Me 262 or Me 163 were often seen in 1945 being towed like a mere middle ages style ox cart. This set contains a figure of a Luftwaffe groundcrew with a draft animal ready to tow a Me 163 Komet on the airfield (the figures have been sculpted based on a period photo. However, a photo of a Bf 109G being towed by such poor animal exists too). The draft animal offered in our set can be used in any other type of diorama as well. Country: Germany / WWII
