Informace o originálu: Přestože Lancaster sloužil většinu času jako noční výškový bombardér a útočil na strategické cíle hluboko na německém území (za zmínku stojí především jeho účast v bitvách v Porúří, Hamburku a Berlíně), byl to troufalý hloubkový nálet, který vstoupil do dějin jako jeho nejúspěšnější mise. „Dambusters raid“ („nálet bořičů přehrad“), jak byl od té doby známý, se stal jednou z nejslavnějších operací celé války. Pod vedením velitele Guye Gibsona zaútočilo devatenáct speciálně upravených Lancasterů na přehrady Mohne, Eder, Sorpe a Ennepe, přičemž Mohne a Eder se jim podařilo prorazit.
